Ringing in the New Year with Realistic Goals!

Starting the year off with resolutions or goals is great! What happens if they are not realistic though? This year my husband and I set 3 realistic goals…

Well, here we are a week into the New Year and I am so excited for this year! Are you? I read somewhere that when people set New Year’s resolutions only 7% will actually meet them. That got me thinking, why do we do it at all then? Well, I have decided that it is because we want something to look forward. I am not sure about you, but I want to be a part of that 7%! I also don’t want to be unrealistic though! How about you?

Realistic goals setting

This year instead of resolutions, my husband and I set some goals we wanted to work on. These are very realistic goals and are manageable! Nothing drastic that we will easily want to give up on. We are really excited about taking the goals on! However, starting the New Year off sick was not part of either ones goals but here I am at 4:30 in the morning writing because I can’t stop coughing! UGH! Totally worth it to have some alone time to connect with you all! I have missed you greatly!

I wanted to share a few of my goals with you all and I am really interested to hear what your goals are! I hope we can be each other’s cheerleaders this year and help reach these goals! If there are any goals that you may need help with let me know and I will try to do a blog on it to give you some advice!

So, here we go!

Work on our marriage!

This is always going to be a goal of mine. I love my husband dearly but I know that since the kids have arrived putting our marriage first has been a struggle. We have work, house work, feeding the family, bed time and not to mention farming, doTerra, Bible studies, soccer lessons, visiting family… you know that list could go on. It is called life. We have decided that we are the most important unit in this household and we are going to spend this year working on us! Then, every year after that too! We have begun a couple’s devotional that has had us start communicating more and it has been really great! It is really amazing and if this is something you are interested in, check it out and get it in your hands!

We are also planning a vacation for the two of us later this year! I already feel that this year is going to be our best yet!

2019 love!

Getting my endometriosis under control!

Man has this one sucked lately! When I started the Paleo diet last year it was a huge adjustment but I lost weight, decreased inflammation, had energy and most of all had little to no symptoms from my endometriosis! Then people started telling me I had lost too much weight (which was not my goal) and the holidays happened, like Halloween through New Years!! December was horrible and so painful! When I hurt it is hard to be motivated to do anything, I don’t sleep well and I am grouchy. Most of all it drives a huge wedge between my husband and I because of my mood. These are things I do not like.

So, I am making the effort to get it back under control naturally! I am starting a 30 day Paleo challenge to jump start me back into the swing of things. It is honestly kind of expensive to do so I may do week one then just adjust to paleo eating after that. There are meal plans and shopping list which is nice but it is so much more food than I normally eat!

This go around, my husbands is very supportive as he saw the difference in me too! I am going to be eating clean and being better to my body. I am ready to get this bad boy under control and be able to live my life! Not to mention all of the other health benefits healthy, clean eating has, it’s like the icing on the cake! Oh man… I said cake…. Just kidding, I am stronger than that!

Be out of our current home by the end of 2019!

This is a big goal for us, as it has been a wish for the last two years. We love this house and it has so many memories but we need a more functional space for our family! I love to entertain and the layout of our home does not allow for that to happen with any more than a few people! Our living room has become a toy room which drives us crazy! Not that we mind the kids playing around us, but it’s such a small space that it can quickly become overwhelming! We would love a space that the kids can play and call their own!

We have some home improvements that we want to do to the house and we are taking them on with full steam ahead already. We needed to replace a part of the fence that closes of the back yars and my husband did an amazing job on it! We are going to paint the inside and replace the railing on the front porch. The last thing will be to get a new mirror for the master bath. That should do it then!

My goal would to have our house listed by April! However, I will be happy with whenever we can get it up! This also means we are on the lookout for a new home or property to build. My fear is having two mortgages since this year we worked really hard to pay off some debt. I do not want to get into more than we can handle! EEK!

The best is yet to come!

This year is going to be so busy but I am so excited to see where it takes us! Like I said, these are realistic goals which help them be more manageable. I have set unrealistic goals before and felt crushed at the end of the year knowing I was further from them than ever before! This would be the goal of being in shape; having not an ounce of cellulite on me and look like a runway model!  You know this goal would only me possible if I did nothing but work out, eat well, and have a few surgeries! NOT MY REALITY! This year, I am perfectly ok with that too! I am a mom of two kids and I am happy with who I am!

So tell me, what are some of you goals? I am so excited to start this year with you all! It really is going to be the best year yet! Leave a comment below with you goal, subscribe and share this post with your friends so we can help more people too!
