Happy Momma’s Need Spoiled!

Hey Squirrelly Momma’s!

I hope y’all are having a great Mother’s Day weekend and are getting spoiled or at least enjoying the craziness! Momming is hard, exhausting, and overwhelming all while being the greatest blessing and achievement ever! So, let’s take care of ourselves! I want to share with you 3 ways to take care of yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually! This way we are ready to be super woman every day!

Physical Health

Physical health refers to the overall health of our bodies. Are we being active enough, are we watching our weight and are we keeping a healthy diet?  Giving your body what it needs to care for itself is the first step to caring for ourselves! Now, everyone has different goals and ideas of their best physical health is so apply these tips to areas in your life that they fit!

Exercising for at least 30 minutes, 3 days a week is a good start. Elevate your heart rate a little. The elevated heart rate helps to not only burn calories but helps supply oxygen to the bloodstream. Start with light exercises or walking. If you are not currently doing a routine workout, jumping in to a hard-core work out can be more harmful than good! When we begin exercising, it is normal to feel a little tired because we are not used to it. The more you do, the easier it will be and then you will notice you have more energy! You may even notice some pounds shedding! Now, I know some people who try to overdo it to from the beginning no matter how many times you tell them to start easy. They often end up so sore within a few days that they give up! This is no way to be. If you are one of these people or if you just get sore from time to time, try applying Deep Blue to the area and then apply a warm compress to improve the blood flow to the area.

Mental Health

We all know that being a mom is not only physically exhausting but mentally too! I know for me sometimes I feel like if I must tell the kids ONE MORE TIME to sit down or to eat, I will lose my mind! Taking time to relax your mind is just as important as your physical health! Being mentally exhausted can cause us to not be able to take care of our families the best we can, we can make mistakes at work, and make us not want to be intimate with our significant others- which is never good for our relationships!

When caring for our mental health, take time to sit by yourself (in silence if possible), close your eyes and take deep breaths. It helps enhance the relaxation, diffuse Balance while resting for a grounding experience. If you are taking this time in the evening, diffuse Lavender, or Serenity to help promote calmness! When you are struggling during the day and you need a mood boost to help give you some energy, apply a citrus oil like Wild Orange or Citrus Bliss.



Spiritual Health

For me, spending time reading the Holy Bible and learning how to be a better Christian is what I need for my spiritual health. Not only is this teaching me how to put my faith in Jesus Christ and to lean on him when I cannot do things on my own, it is teaching me how to be a better person. It is teaching me to be a better wife, mother, and friend. Spending time getting a deeper relationship with God gives me the confidence I need to take on the day because I know that God will not give me anything I cannot handle. I also gain a sense of peace and clarity about the endeavors I am leaping into! I have put my faith in Him and I am excited for the opportunities he is giving me.

Not all you squirrelly Momma’s are in the same place spiritually as I am and that is ok! If this is you, why don’t you try meditating! Mediation has been shown to help provide clarity to the mind and spirit and is used in many countries to help with the overall health of the body! When meditating, diffuse oils that are relaxing and help give an uplifting environment.  One of my recent favorite blends to diffuse is 3 drops Petitgrain and 3 drops Lime. It smells like I am in a spa and just makes me so happy! Also, it makes my house smell like I have been cleaning all day! Win-win in my books!
